Steak and Onions

This recipe has quickly become a favorite in our house. It's simple and inexpensive and has great flavor.

Typically I serve this with corn on the cob and a broccoli casserole.

For the steak I always purchase the steaks on sale. I never pay more than $3 a steak and for these particular steaks and their size, I usually buy 3 for a total of a little over $9 after tax.

Marinated Steak with onions

3 lbs petite sirloin steak
2 large sweet onions
Balsamic vinaigrette dressing
brown sugar
Heinz 57 Steak Sauce
Worchestire Sauce
Garlic powder

Start by mixing 1/2 cup of Balsamic vinaigrette dressing with 6 tablespoons of brown sugar.
Add 4 tablespoons 57 sauce and 2 tablespoons Worchestire sauce.
Mix in 2 teaspoons of garlic powder.
Place steaks in a large Ziploc bag and pour in mixture.
Place in fridge.
I usually prepare about 3 hours before I'm going to cook the steaks and flip at least once.

Time to cook:

Heat two tablespoons olive oil in large pan on medium high heat.
Slice up both onions into thin slices and place in pan.
Cook for 5 minutes.
Cover and reduce heat to medium-low and cook an additional 15 minutes
or until tender and brown.

Place steaks on an aluminum covered broiler pan and place 8 inches from broiler.
Broil approximately 7 minutes on each side.

Once the steaks are done, add 2 tablespoons of 57 sauce to onions.
Slice steaks into thin strips and top with onions.

Enjoy!!
